Farida Khan, Ph.D.

Bio: 

Dr. Khan serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Bangladesh Studies and is the Secretary of Bangladesh Development Initiative. She is Professor of Economics at University of Wisconsin-Parkside where she teaches international economics and development economics classes in addition to core theory. She has edited various books on development issues in Bangladesh. She has published on various topics related to international trade, micro-credit, NGOs, gender, and indigenous peoples in Bangladesh. She has been a reviewer for Contemporary Economic Policy, International Economic Journal, Feminist Economics, and several other Journals and is a manuscript reviewer for Routledge and Sage South Asia. She has worked as a consultant with the World Bank on trade policy in Bangladesh. She has chaired the Economics Department at University of Wisconsin- Parkside, where she has directed the Center for Ethnic Studies and now directs the Center for International Studies. She is an active member of AEDSB (Association for Economic Development Studies on Bangladesh), BEN (Bangladesh Environmental Network), and IAFFE (International Association for Feminist Economics), and currently serves as Secretary of BDI.
